May 19, 2011
If you love rowing and want to share your experience with family or friends then let people know about ORCs instructional programs. Programs are available for beginners and experienced rowers see below. The best way to promote ORCs programs is through word of mouth. Please pass on your passion!
Learn to Row
You don't need any previous experience to take the ORC's learn-to-row course. It starts with learning safety on the water, details about your boat and oars and instruction on technique on our rowing machines in the club house and dockside rowing simulator. You are on the water in your second class in an eight, learning how to balance a boat and then how to move it through the water as a crew.Sessions typically run Mon-Wed-Fri -Mon -Wed and start May 24th, June 6th, June 20th, July 4th, July 18th, August 2nd and August 15th.

Adult Rowing League
Adult Rowing League still has room!
The Adult Rowing League (ARL) takes place on weekday evenings in June (practices) and July (race nights!).
Upon registering to practice on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday nights, you are assigned to a crew, a boat and a coach. Practices are held weekly during the month of June (Tuesdays or Wednesdays or Thursdays at 18:00h).
In July, all crews meet on Thursday evenings (18:00h) for races - some 200 rowers! Races are 800m in length, running in front of the boathouse from Parliament Hill to the Macdonald-Cartier Bridge. An announcer calls the races, the BBQ is on and the bar is open. Race nights are all about fun!
Participants must be 18 years or older. No previous rowing experience required.
