Nestled on the Ottawa River and surrounded by the Royal Canadian Mint and prominent Embassy’s, the Ottawa Rowing Club Boat House Banquet facility is ideally located, convenient and easily accessible from Sussex Drive.  An intimate locale in the tranquility of our beautiful landscape, this picturesque setting accommodates casual and elegant, simple and stunning. It is the perfect setting to celebrate your momentous occasion. The possibilities are endless.

Imagine, an outdoor ceremony on the terrace surrounded by the living beauty of the Ottawa River, Parliament Hill and Gatineau Hills. The banquet facility is uniquely designed and  located on the second floor of the oldest rowing club building in Canada, founded in 1867. The atmosphere of the club’s banquet facility reflect this, surrounding the visitor with trophies and mementoes from the Ottawa Rowing Club’s long history.

The Facility has the ambiance of a private club, but the dedicated space (1600 sq ft) and facilities for organizing full catering services for groups of up to 100 seated or up to 125 standing.  From luxurious to affordable, we have the venue for your next business meeting, wedding party or social gathering.

 Corporate leadership events

The Boathouse Banquet facility, in partnership with the Ottawa Rowing Club’s rowing programs, offer a Corporate Leadership event experience. We combine a half day rowing program with experienced coaches where participants learn the basics of rowing and water safety and enjoy the teaming and leadership camaraderie of rowing on the scenic Ottawa River. On completion of the rowing experience we can assist in planning and organizing informal BBQ services and bar or a formal lunch catered by one our recommended catering services. This event is very popular and requires a minimum number of 6 people with a maximum participation of 50 people.

Booking Procedure

A letter or e-mail of confirmation and a deposit for half the rental cost is required 7 days after a provisional reservation. Final  billing is payable, in full, 14 days on completion of your event. If you unfortunately need to cancel you’re booking, up to 30 days prior to your event,  will retain the deposit. The Ottawa Rowing Club will try and minimize loss by re-renting the banquet facility and may be able to waive the cancellation charges.

Insurance Protection

If you are planning to host a banquet or meeting, you are responsible for providing liability insurance in the event of damages, fire and theft. The Ottawa Rowing Club can arrange the liability insurance protection through the City of Ottawa at an average cost of $80-150. Find out more in our Insurance Protection for You brochure. There are a number of options where you can acquire this insurance through your personal insurance company or by PAL insurance options.

Ottawa Rowing Club Alcohol Policy - Guidelines for Responsible Service of Alcohol


A policy for the responsible use of alcohol during events and functions has been developed to regulate use at the Boathouse Banquet Facilities. If alcohol is to be served at your event, a liquor license is required and can be organized by the Boathouse Banquet Facility or can be arranged directly through the event organizer. As our facilities are owned by the City of Ottawa, we follow the city's alcohol policy.
