Parking at the club

May 13, 2008

Parking at the club is always tough in the mornings and even more so this year. There is a large group of high school athletes out in the mornings, and the ramps from the old boathouse are still in the parking lot taking up space and waiting for the river level to fall enough so we can install them.

There are several things everyone can do to ease the probems.

First, we must keep the roadway open right down to the new boathouse for emergency vehicles. That means there must be a route wide enough for fire trucks and ambulances down through the entire parking lot and no vehicles can be blocking the roadway in front the barrier and then down in front of the boat houses.

Second, please respect the parking spots for our adaptive athletes. They need room to get in and out of their vehicles and also need room to back up and get out of the partking lot after they have finsihed training.

Third, please park carefully between the yellow lines. Straddling the lines means your car takes up space that could be occupied by two cars. Please check when you park to be sure you are only taking up one spot.

Spots in the upper parking lot are allocated to government employees who freqeuntly occupy them any time from 7:00 am onwards. Cars can be parked along the river side of the upper roadway past the entrance to the club to pick up athletes in the morning. We must not park in the lined spaces in the upper lots as they are designated for government employees.

If everyone respects these rules we can minimze the parking problems. Thanks for your co-operation.
